Seth weighs in on the "are brands dead?" conversation. I've written a little about some of these issues in the past, including the idea of markets as conversations in the past.
No doubt about it for me: brands are inertial beasts loping through the economic landscape without regard for what the experiences of most of the people interacting with them might be. "Pay us, and shut up."
But this is not sustainable. Someone will get better at branding using a conversation model and that will result in a re-Gestalt of marketing. "Speak with us, pay us, keep speaking with to us."
You know, real Customer Relationship Marketing.
